The second volume of a seven volume historical work complementing Dunn's 1995 monograph on the minerals of the district. This is the first thorough documentary study of the area's unique history.

Includes chapters on early zinc rights; early years of the New Jersey Zinc company; development of smelters and processes; joint stock associations; and activities of the Passaic Mining & Manufacturing company and the Passaic Zinc company.
