KAlSi3O8
Monoclinic
Orthoclase, a potassium aluminum silicate mineral of the feldspar group, is relatively rare at Franklin and unreported from Sterling Hill. Frondel (1972) mentions its occurrence as yellowish white to brownish masses in the calcium silicate units at Franklin, grading into hyalophane, which is more abundant. Little is known of its occurrence or paragenesis.
